FamilyBoard

Terms of Use

Last updated 22 October 2026

Effective 22 October 2026. These terms cover the FamilyBoard website and the FamilyBoard app for Apple TV, operated by Sweet Phoenix Creations PTY Ltd, South Africa.

1. Your account and household

You need an account to use FamilyBoard. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for activity under your account. The person who creates a household is its owner. Owners and adults can invite members, manage profiles and approve Apple TVs. Child profiles have restricted access decided by the household’s adults.

Invitations expire. An owner can revoke an invitation or remove a member at any time.

2. Your content stays yours

Everything you add — events, chores, lists, notes and photos — remains yours. You grant us only the permission needed to store and display it to your own household and its paired devices. We do not use your household content for advertising, and we do not train anything on it.

Do not upload content you have no right to share, or anything unlawful.

3. Free and Pro

The free plan includes one household, up to three members, the calendar, shopping lists, basic chores and one theme. FamilyBoard Pro adds more members, premium themes, advanced widgets, photo slideshows and advanced chores and rewards.

Pro is sold through Apple’s App Store as a monthly or yearly subscription. Apple handles payment, billing, renewals and refunds. Prices are shown in the App Store. A subscription renews until cancelled; manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings.

Access is granted only when our server confirms an active subscription with Apple. If verification is unavailable, Pro features stay off rather than being granted on trust.

Nothing here removes any consumer right you have that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the South African Consumer Protection Act or equivalent law where you live. We do not operate a “no refunds” policy; refunds are requested from Apple.

4. Apple TV

A paired Apple TV receives a read-only view of its household. It cannot change your data. Pairing requires approval by an owner or adult while signed in on the website; no password is entered on the TV. Any paired TV can be revoked at any time and loses access immediately.

Because a TV screen may be visible to anyone in the room, think about what you put on a shared dashboard.

5. Features that depend on others

Purchases require the App Store. Weather, if enabled, depends on a third-party provider and is general information only — not something to rely on for safety decisions. These services can change or be interrupted by their operators, and we do not guarantee their availability.

6. Reasonable use

Please do not attempt to access another household’s data, probe or bypass security controls, automate abusive levels of traffic, or resell the service. We may suspend an account that does.

7. Export and deletion

You can export your household data and delete your account from Settings at any time. Deletion removes your household, its items and its photo files, and your login. It is permanent and cannot be undone, and it does not cancel or refund an Apple subscription.

8. Availability and changes

FamilyBoard is provided as-is. We may update features and these terms; the effective date above will change and continued use means you accept the update. We may need to interrupt the service for maintenance.

9. Liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for interruption of a third-party service, or for reliance on weather information. FamilyBoard is an organisational tool, not a medical, safety or emergency system.

This does not limit liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any non-waivable consumer guarantee.

10. Apple

Apple is not a party to these terms and does not endorse or warrant FamilyBoard. Apple’s role is distributing the app and processing purchases under its own terms. Where Apple’s required end-user licence terms conflict with these, Apple’s prevail for that conflict.

11. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, without affecting mandatory consumer protection where you live.
